Game Policies

ALLOWED GAME FORMATS

We have received requests for clarification on what types of games ARE allowed on the platform that will not violate our no-gambling policy. When running games, please remember that you should:

  1. Avoid images in your live posting that convey the appearance of gambling; please refrain from using gambling-associated or chance-based images like roulette wheels, ticket tumblers, etc.

  2. Adhere to federal, state and local laws regarding gambling.

Below are some examples of games that can be played during livestreams:

IN-APP GIVEAWAYS - The use of the Palmstreet giveaway feature is compliant with our no-gambling policy.

FREE TO ENTER - Any game where there is no cost to enter is allowed, as long as a limit of entries is set and that limit is applied equally to both free entries and purchase-based entries.

SCAVENGER HUNT - Sending your viewers (not just buyers) to look for something. For example, selecting the first person to comment "X" then asking that person to find 3 things in a limited time for a free product. As long as there is no cost to participate, this is permitted.

BUILD YOUR OWN BOXES - Sometimes you may have a lot of inventory and wish to sell bundled orders. To do this, you must be completely transparent regarding the assorted products that will make up this sale, and the specific products must be displayed in your livestream. Some sellers use this to combine plants for newer buyers who want an expert's advice on which plants are best. All build-your-own-boxes must be built once the purchase is complete, or as buyers bid for the box. Buyers should receive items with a combined fair market value that is in line with the winning bid. Violation of this policy may result in removal of your eligibility to run such sales or a ban of your account from the platform.

PULL GAMES - A pull game is defined as having multiple items all displayed, with each one assigned a number or other random identifier. Viewers buy or bid on a pull identifier, and then while on camera, the seller selects the associated product and shows them what they purchased. Pull games are allowed, however you are required to clearly show all of the available products that are being pulled from for the duration of the game and you must include in the notes section of your live and on the item listing: the base price (lowest priced item), the ceiling price (highest priced item) and the average price for all the items available in your pull game, as well as the total number of items in your pull inventory. For example, if you run a pull game for cactus, you need to clearly show everyone all the available cactus to pull from, and announce the quantity available, and the base / ceiling / average prices of these cactus.

Example of an acceptable note and item listing for a Pull Game:

MYSTERY BOXES - A mystery box is defined as having an item or items from a pool of previously well-defined products in a particular category, and viewers buy or bid on a mystery box. Mystery boxes are under much public scrutiny, so the rules around them are specific. For mystery boxes:

  • You should only sell as many spots as there are Mystery items

  • All mystery boxes/items must be opened and shown during the entire livestream.

  • All mystery boxes/items must be kept on screen during the livestream.

  • If you are found abusing mystery boxes to manipulate bids, you will be banned from the platform.

  • Be Truthful about Pricing: Do not mislead buyers about the value of a box by mentioning the highest potential value of a mystery box. - If you cite the value of an item, be prepared to back it up with real data on comparable market prices. - Never inflate the market value of an item, including "mystery boxes" and other compilations. Market estimates of mystery boxes / packs must be available upon request; misstated values may lead to order cancellations, buyer refunds or platform banning.

  • List product category (plants, cactus, crystals, etc), along with 4 elements of market price in product name and description: 1) Base price (minimum/lowest value of the box/item) 2) Ceiling (max/highest value of the box/item) 3) Average price (average price across the box/items) 4) The number of items that these statistics span

  • You must include in the notes section of your live and on the item listing: the base price (lowest priced item), the ceiling price (highest priced item) and the average price for all the items available in your pull game, as well as the total number of items available.
