How to stream using OBS on Palmstreet

OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) helps you create high-quality, professional livestreams right from your computer. Whether you want to use a DSLR camera, add overlays, or switch between scenes, OBS gives you the flexibility to design your show your way.

You can connect OBS directly to Palmstreet through Seller Hub to stream in vertical format — giving you more creative control and a more polished presentation than streaming from your phone.

What is OBS?

OBS is a free, professional-grade software used by creators and live sellers around the world to stream video and audio directly from a computer. It lets you connect external cameras and microphones, customize your screen layout, and deliver smoother, higher-quality shows — all at no cost.

Make sure you have:

  • A computer (Mac or Windows)

Step 1: Set Up Your Livestream

  1. Go to the Palmstreet app and schedule a LIVE show.

For your first test, you can set it to Private so only you can view it.

  2. Log in to Seller Hub and find your upcoming show under LIVE. You’ll see two options:

    • Use Web Camera – to go live directly in your browser.

    • Use OBS Studio – to connect your OBS setup for more control.

  3. Select Use OBS Studio to continue.

💡 Important: Live streaming is supported only on the Chrome browser. Please ensure you’re using Chrome. If you don’t see the Use OBS Studio option after scheduling your livestream, please contact our Customer Service team for assistance.

Step 2: Download and Install OBS

  1. Visit obsproject.com and download the version for your operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux).

  2. Follow the installation instructions.

  3. Launch OBS — you’ll see a blank canvas where you can build your livestream scene.

💡 Tip: You only need to set up OBS once. It will save your settings for future streams.

Step 3: Configure OBS for Palmstreet

To make sure your stream displays correctly on Palmstreet, follow these steps:

Enable WebSocket Server

  1. Go to Tools → WebSocket Server Settings in the OBS top menu.

  2. Turn on Enable WebSocket Server.

  3. Set Server Port to 4455.

  4. Turn off Enable Authentication.

  5. Click OK.

Output Settings

  1. Go to Preferences (Settings) → Output.

  2. Adjust the following:

  • Output Mode: Advanced

  • Video Encoder: x264

  • Audio Encoder: FFmpeg Opus

  • Bitrate: 2800–3500 Kbps

  • Rate Control: CBR

  • Keyframe Interval: 2 seconds

  • CPU Usage Preset: Veryfast to Ultrafast

  • Tune: Zerolatency

💡 Tip: A higher bitrate improves video quality but uses more bandwidth. Staying between 2800–3500 Kbps offers the best balance.

Video Settings

  1. Go to Preferences (Settings) → Video.

  2. Update the following:

    • Base (Canvas) Resolution: 1080x1920 (Aspect Ratio 9:16)

    • Output (Scaled) Resolution: 1080x1920 (Aspect Ratio 9:16)

    • Common FPS Values: 30

📱 Palmstreet uses a vertical format, so always use 9:16 (1080x1920) to ensure your stream fits perfectly on mobile screens.

Step 4: Add Your Camera and Microphone

Add a Video Source (Camera)

  1. In the Sources panel at the bottom of OBS, click “+” icon → Video Capture Device.

  2. Select your camera and click OK.

  3. You should now see your video feed in the preview window.

Add an Audio Source (Microphone)

  1. In the Sources panel, click “+” icon → Audio Input Capture.

  2. Select your microphone and click OK.

  3. If the green bars move, your audio is working correctly.

Optional: Add Media or Graphics

You can personalize your stream by adding logos, background images, or short intro clips.

  • Use Image Source for static visuals such as your logo.

  • Use Media Source for short video intros or overlays.

Drag items within the Sources list to arrange which elements appear in front or behind others.

Step 5: Connect OBS and Go Live on Palmstreet

  1. Go back to Palmstreet Seller Hub and click Connect OBS — you should see a success message.

  2. If the connection fails, check the popup message for details and adjust your OBS settings accordingly.

  3. When ready, click Start Livestream in Seller Hub.

  4. Use your Palmstreet mobile app during your show to:

    • View and reply to comments

    • Pin products

    • Interact with your viewers in real time

🎉 Congratulations — your first OBS livestream is LIVE on Palmstreet!
