# Approved Animals

Palmstreet supports the sale of select live animals across reptiles, aquatics, invertebrates, and more. This policy is designed to enable responsible commerce while prioritizing safety, legal compliance, and ethical sourcing.

All listings must comply with Palmstreet guidelines, applicable laws, and shipping carrier requirements.

### **Approved Animal Categories**

The following categories are currently allowed:

* Reptiles (e.g., snakes, lizards, turtles, geckos)
* Amphibians
* Aquatics (e.g., fish, coral, aquatic invertebrates)
* Invertebrates (e.g., excluding restricted species below)
* Birds (e.g., non-restricted species, currently in testing)

Note: Sellers interested in listing birds must first be approved to sell and should contact <support@palmstreet.app> via email for clearance.

### **Venomous Animal Policy**

#### **Allowed: Rear-Fanged Species (Limited)**

Select rear-fanged species with mild to moderate venom may be permitted if they are not considered life-threatening to humans.

Examples:

* Hognose snakes (Heterodon spp.)
* False water cobras (Hydrodynastes gigas)
* Certain rear-fanged colubrids (e.g., Boiga, Thrasops, Leptodeira)

Requirements:

* Must be clearly labeled as venomous
* Full transparency in listings
* Compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, as well as shipping carrier regulations and requirements

Note: Shipping carriers may impose additional restrictions. For example, FedEx does not allow shipment of venomous snakes without special approval and labeling.

#### **Prohibited: Medically Significant Venomous Animals**

Front-fanged or medically significant venomous species are strictly prohibited due to high risk of severe injury or death.

Examples (not exhaustive):

Snakes:

* Cobras (including spitting cobras)
* Mambas
* Kraits
* Coral snakes
* Vipers (e.g., gaboon viper, puff adder, bushmaster, rattlesnakes)
* Sea snakes

Other species:

* Highly venomous scorpions (e.g., deathstalker species)
* Box jellyfish and other highly venomous marine species
* Cone snails
* Blue-ringed octopus

### **Additional Restricted Animals**

The following are not allowed on Palmstreet:

* Endangered or protected species
* Illegally sourced or trafficked animals
* Animals in poor health or unstable condition
* Reptiles within 90 days of import (minimum acclimation requirement)
* Species requiring permits or licenses that cannot be verified
* Any species restricted by local, state, or federal law
* Illegally collected fish, coral, or aquatic invertebrates
* Wild-caught domestic reptiles

### **Prohibited Practices**

#### **Venomoids**

Animals marketed as “venomoids” (venom gland removal) are strictly prohibited.

* Procedures are invasive and inhumane and do not align with Palmstreet’s animal welfare standards
* Effects may be incomplete or reversible
* Animals may still pose a safety risk

**This practice is not permitted on Palmstreet. Any naturally venomous animals not explicitly allowed under the rear-fanged policy above are prohibited.**

### **Seller Responsibilities**

Sellers are fully responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

This includes:

* Local, state, and federal legal requirements
* Shipping carrier policies (e.g., FedEx, UPS)
* Proper packaging, labeling, and documentation

Failure to comply may result in:

* Listing removal
* Account suspension or permanent removal
* Potential legal consequences

### **Safety Standard**

Palmstreet prohibits any animal capable of causing life-threatening or life-altering harm through envenomation or other means.

Risk determinations are based on:

* Documented human fatalities
* Established clinical and toxicology data

### **Summary**

Palmstreet supports responsible animal sales, but safety, legality, and ethics come first.

If there is any uncertainty about a species, sellers must seek approval before listing. Please contact Palmstreet Support in the app via direct message at @PalmstreetSupport or by emailing <support@palmstreet.app>.
