Types of coupons and how to use them

Coupons can be an amazing promotional tool to draw more customers to your account and encourage sales. On the Palmstreet app, we offer a few different coupon styles to help our sellers drive growth and engagement. The three coupons we cover below are partner coupons, seller coupons, and platform coupons.

1. Partner Coupon (We partner on the cost)

You’ll sometimes hear this called a partially sponsored coupon or a subsidized coupon, which means Palmstreet will cover a percentage of the coupon. The amount of the contribution will vary by campaign, but the terms will be clearly stated in the announcement email and in-app message. For example, some coupons could have a 30% contribution, which means Palmstreet will reimburse you for 30% of the cost of the coupon. What makes a partner coupon different than a platform-wide coupon is that you have to opt in to the campaign by signing up. You will also pay part of the cost.

Benefits of Partner Coupons:

You may be wondering why a partner coupon is helpful if you have to pay part of the cost. The greatest benefit of partner coupons is the exposure. We heavily promote partner coupons to Palmstreet customers. When you participate, your show is featured on a special tab to help you stand out. Partner coupons bring more buyers to the app, so when you sign up you increase your chances of attracting new followers and building your community.

  • Who sets it up? After you sign up for the partner coupon, we will handle the setup for you.

  • Who covers the cost? Palmstreet pays a portion of the cost, which is reimbursed after the conclusion of the campaign.

  • Where does the coupon show? A partner coupon will usually be indicated by a special banner on the app front page that houses the participating shows. When a buyer clicks into a participating live show, they will see the coupon on their end in the live show listings.

  • How is it redeemed? The coupon will automatically be applied to the first purchase that a customer makes during your show. If there are multiple coupons offered at the same time, the customer will have to select which coupon to use when they make payment.

  • Where can it be used? Partner coupons are typically for LIVE shows only.

  • How many coupons per buyer? This can vary by campaign, but usually a partner coupon is 1 coupon per buyer.

2. Seller Coupon (Seller covers the cost)

Seller coupons are created by the seller using our in-app coupon feature. The seller chooses the terms of the coupon, including the duration, the percent discount, and the max amount. Unlike partner coupons and platform coupons that are organized by Palmstreet, the seller has control over their own seller coupons.

Benefits of Seller Coupons: One of the greatest benefits of seller coupons is the flexibility. As the seller, you can choose to make your own campaigns and create coupons to drive sales and engagement.

  • Who sets it up? The seller sets up a seller coupon in the app. Read detailed instructions in our Seller Coupon guidearrow-up-right.

  • Who covers the cost? The seller covers the cost of seller coupons.

  • Where does the coupon show? Seller coupons show as a coupon icon in the top left of the live show or purge screen.

  • How is it redeemed? Seller coupons can be redeemed by clicking the coupon icon and claiming it, or by manually entering the coupon code to redeem it.

  • Where can it be used? Coupons can be attached to a specific live show or purge, or they can be set up for first time buyers to use on any of your products.

  • How many coupons per buyer? One coupon per buyer.

3. Platform Coupon (Palmstreet covers the cost)

Platform coupons are similar to partner coupons, except Palmstreet covers 100% of the cost on these types of coupons. They’re available to all users on the platform and no sign-up is required.

Benefits of Platform Coupons:

No work is required on your end to sign-up or create a coupon. You can simply reap the benefits of the campaign while Palmstreet covers the cost. It’s always recommended to take advantage of platform coupons and schedule your lives at the same time as coupon campaigns for extra visibility and engagement.

  • Who sets it up? Palmstreet takes care of setting up platform coupons.

  • Who covers the cost? Palmstreet covers 100% of the cost of platform coupons.

  • Where does the coupon show? The platform coupon will be visible to all buyers in My Coupons. They will also see a small green banner when they visit a shop or live.

  • How is it redeemed? The platform coupon will automatically be applied to the first purchase that a customer makes during your show. If there are multiple coupons offered at the same time, the customer will have to select which coupon to use when they make payment.

  • Where can it be used? Platform coupons usually apply to lives only.

  • How many coupons per buyer? One coupon per buyer.
